Fake currency racket busted, 2 held with 100 counterfeit notes

Baripada: Busting a fake currency racket in Mayurbhanj district, police arrested two men and seized 100 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination from their possession here on Friday.

The arrested men have been identified as Sheikh Saliuddin, a resident of Basta area in Balasore district and Tarun Kumar Jena.

Baripada Police took Saliuddin into custody after getting information on his involvement in fake currency circulation in the city during an interrogation of two youths, who had been caught on Wednesday. The duo had been nabbed by Rasagovindpur Police while trying to make a purchase from a shop by giving a fake Rs 2,000 currency note.

Police said the interrogation is underway and they are trying to extract more information on fake currency rackets operating in the district.
