Engineer with 85 plots arrested by Odisha vigilance on DA charges

Keonjhar/Balasore: Engineer with 85 plots arrested by Odisha vigilance on disproportionate assets (DA) charges, said reports on Saturday. There had been an Odisha Vigilance Raid on engineer Pravas Kumar Pradhan on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets. He was under orders of promotion as Chief Engineer, Baitarni Barrage Division, Salapada, Keonjhar A/p Superintending Engineer (SE) of Irrigation, Balasore Division, Balasore.

Simultaneous house searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance comprising two Addl. SPs, four DSPs, six Inspectors, seven ASIs and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore at following seven places in Balasore district:

1. Parental residential house of Pradhan located at Badabazar, Jaleswar, Balasore.

2. One five storeyed newly constructed building of Pradhan located at Badabazar, Jaleswar, Balasore.

3. One single-storeyed building with boundary wall and Market complex of Pradhan located at Badabazar, Jaleswar, Balasore.

4. House of his relative located at Mahinsamunda, Baliapal, Balasore.

5. Govt. Quarter of Pradhan, located at Irrigation Colony near Govt. ITI Chhak, Balasore.

6. Office Chamber of Pradhan, SE of at Balasore Division, Balasore near Govt. ITI Chhak.

7. House of his close associate at Santia, Jaleswar, Balasore.

During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of in the Odisha vigilance raid on engineer Pradhan and his family members:

1. One five storeyed building with area approx. 12,500 sqft located at Jaleswar.

2. One newly constructed RCC roofed building with boundary wall and market complex spread over approx 5650 sqft at Gobara Ghat, Jaleswar, Balasore.

3. 85 plots, of which 80 plots in Jaleswar, four plots in Delanga Puri, and one plot in Sunakania, West Bengal.

The above plots were purchased by Pradhan in different years in his name as well as in name of his family members. The total registered sale deed value comes to over Rs. 2 crores. However, the actual value is likely to be higher, which is being verified.

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings, and plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

5. Cash Rs. 11,70,980/-

6. Gold approx. 218 gms including one gold biscuit.

7. Bank, Postal, Insurance and other deposits are being ascertained.

8. One Four Wheeler (Indica) and one two wheeler ( Honda Activa). Further detailed reports awaited in this regard.
