Effect of ‘Odisha Bandh’ witnessed in Bhubaneswar, agitators block roads at different places
‘Ama Bus’ service has also been disrupted due to the Bandh
Bhubaneswar: The capital city of Odisha is witnessing significant disruptions today as opposition parties, led by the Congress, staged protests and road blockades across the city as part of the statewide Odisha Bandh.
Congress workers were seen blocking roads at different important places of the capital city including Master Canteen Chhaka, Rasulgarh, Rajmahal square and AG square. Protesters have blocked roads at prominent locations, bringing traffic to a halt in several areas of Bhubaneswar.
‘Ama Bus’ service has also been disrupted. A couple came from Delhi in a flight and landed in Bhubaneswar Airport. They want to go Berhampur to attend a funeral rite. The man and the woman are now facing problem to reach Berhampur due to the Bandh.
Even the protestors have blocked National Highway at Vani Vihar area and Rasulgarh among others.
Public transport, including buses, has been severely affected, with many vehicles staying off the roads. Heavy vehicles including buses and trucks are seen awaiting on the National Highway on the flyover at Vani Vihar area and Hanspal area among others.
Also, enough number of police personnel have been deployed across the city to prevent any untoward incidents.
It is to be noted that the bandh was called to demand justice for a 20-year-old student who died after setting herself on fire, allegedly due to inaction on her sexual harassment complaint against a professor.
