ECoR sets up dedicated Pilgrim Waiting Areas and Mela Sheds in Puri for Rath Yatra with a combined capacity of 25,000 persons
The ECoR has set up dedicated Pilgrim Waiting Areas and Mela Sheds in Puri with a combined capacity of over 25,000 persons which will remain operational till the Bahuda Yatra.
Bhubaneswar: In view of the upcoming world-renowned Rath Yatra festival in Puri, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has made unprecedented arrangements to facilitate smooth and comfortable travel and stay for devotees.
The ECoR has set up dedicated Pilgrim Waiting Areas and Mela Sheds in Puri with a combined capacity of over 25,000 persons which will remain operational till the Bahuda Yatra. These areas are equipped with:
- Covered seating arrangements
- Drinking water booths and modular toilets
- Mobile charging points and shaded rest zones
- First aid and medical stations with ambulance support
- Ticket Counters, Mobile Ticketing Units, ATVMs, and ECOR Yatra Mobile App services
The ECoR also has decided to operate a record 365 Special Trains during the Rath Yatra 2025 period, covering almost every corner of Odisha and key parts of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra.
These Special Trains will connect various districts and regions including Rourkela, Biramitrapur, Bangiriposi, Junagarh Road, Badampahar, Boudh, Jagadalpur (Chhattisgarh), Baleswar, Angul, Gunupur, Rayagada, Paradeep, Bhadrak, Kendujhar, Daspalla, Khurda Road, Sambalpur, Talcher, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Dhenkanal, Barbil, Palasa & Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Gondia (Maharastra) and Santragachhi (Kolkata) among others.
In addition, Special Trains will run from Visakhapatnam and Palasa (Andhra Pradesh), Jagadalpur and Gondia (Maharashtra), and Santragachhi (West Bengal).
These efforts by East Coast Railway reflect not just logistical excellence, but a commitment to inclusion and devotional service ensuring that no public is left behind, regardless location.
Passengers are requested to check train schedules and reservation availability via official railway websites, apps, and public announcements prior to travel. All necessary updates will be provided closer to festival days including Gundicha Yatra, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra, and Sunavesa.
