Eco-friendly and unique wedding of Kendrapada

A wedding sans band & firecrackers, Included saplings and transgenders

Marshaghai: In a time when India’s rich are having no-cost bar weddings, an eco-friendly wedding with minimal costs was held at Mehendinagar village of Marshaghai block in Kendrapada.

The groom, Sanjay Nayak, who works for Indo-Tibetan Border Police wed Chandni Nayak of Bahakandia village. With his family’s support, he decided to have an eco-friendly wedding. There was no noise polluting band and even no air polluting firecrackers for the wedding. He with his baraat even walked to the girl’s place.

Adding to the uniqueness of this wedding, saplings were donated to villagers on the way. The groom even planted a few.

Sanjay and his family also welcomed transgender with an open heart for this beautiful wedding. They showered the newlyweds with blessings and asked the society to have some more eco-friendly weddings.

Chandni Nayak said, “I am proud of my husband for taking this step to bring a change in society. We hope to have inspired some.”
