Digapahandi: A driver was killed as the truck he was driving fell off the ghat road near Jakarapali village at Taptapani in Digapahandi on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Kumar Guru, a native of Nayagarh district.
Sources say, the ill-fated truck was enroute Berhampur from Gajapati, when the driver lost control over its wheels and fell off the ghat road at Taptapani. The driver was stuck inside the truck.
Some locals spotted the truck and informed the police and fire department. On being informed the Sanakhemundi police along with fire personnel reached the spot and started rescue operation. The driver was found dead inside the truck.
Later, the police started a probe into the matter.
