Dr Achyuta Samanta conferred with his 60th Honorary Doctorate

Bhubaneswar: Educationist, social activist and KIIT and KISS founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta has been conferred with an honorary doctorate by Assam Downtown University. This is Dr Samanta’s 60th honorary doctorate.

Dr. Samanta was conferred with this honour on the occasion of the 11th convocation ceremony of Assam Downtown University in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Dr. Samanta was conferred with the honour in the presence of Chief Guest Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Guest of Honour Assam Minister for Public Health, Employment, Tourism and Skills Department Jayant Baruah.

The university has said that Dr. Samanta has been given this honour for his remarkable contribution in the fields of education, health, tribal development, art, culture, literature and rural development.

As Dr Samanta could not attend the event in person, his representative accepted the honour on his behalf.

Dr. Samanta thanked the Assam Downtown University authorities through a video message for this honour.

Prior to this, Dr. Samanta has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees by prestigious universities and institutes in different countries of the world for his outstanding work in the field of social service and education.

In 2009, Dr. Samanta first received an honorary doctorate from Cambodia National University.

By now, he has received 60 honorary doctorates from many universities in the country and abroad.
