Director of Nursing writes to State-run healthcare facilities’ heads to take action against protesting nursing officers as ESMA in force
Bhubaneswar: The Director of Nursing has written to the Heads of all the State-run healthcare facilities to take action against the protesting nursing officers as the ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act) is still in force.
The step has been taken with respect to a two-day strike called by the Odisha Nursing Employees Association (ONEA) from September 25 to September 26.
In a letter Dr. Artabandhu Nayak, the Director of Nursing, Odisha wrote to the heads of the state run healthcare facilities that the general secretary ONEA has represented in a letter to the CM that the Nursing Service in all non-emergency Departments including General wards/ departments/ OPD, routine OT will be withdrawn by Nursing officers in all Govt. run hospitals across the State from 25 and 26, and indefinite cease of work by all Nursing Officers across the State in Govt. Hospitals and workplaces from 27 Sept.
However, in the interest of public, the State Govt. prohibit strikes in form of cessation of work by Nurses, Paramedics, and Technicians etc. Hence, the Director of Nursing asked the Heads to take immediate appropriate action against the Nursing Officers.
