DGP Arun Sarangi reviews security arrangement for election in Odisha

Nuapada: DGP Arun Sarangi during his visit to the Nuapada district today reviewed the security arrangement of the South-Western Range in view of the upcoming election in Odisha.

Sarangi reportedly held a meeting with the concerned senior police officers including the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of Nuapada and Kalahandi. The meeting which was held at Nuapada Police Headquarters was also attended by ADG (Operation) S. Dev Datta Singh, DIG of Police, Special Intelligence Wing (SIW), Kanwar Vishal Singh, South-Western Range DIG Charan Singh Meena.

The meeting mostly focused on how the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections can be held peacefully and smoothly. They discussed about the sensitive areas coming under the Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituency. The two assembly constituencies of Nuapada and five assembly segments of Kalahandi with over 2000 polling booths come under the Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituency, said sources.

As both Nuapada and Kalahandi are the neighbouring areas of Chhattisgarh, special focus has been given on the movement of Maoists with tight security arrangement and co-ordination with the Chhattisgarh police.

A total of 10 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. Besides, anti-Naxal operation has been intensified in the area while a total of 13 check posts have been set-up on the border.

While speaking to the media persons, the DGP assured to conduct the election in a transparent, uninterrupted and impartial manner.
