Lakhs of devotees flock to Puri Srimandir to seek blessings on New Year, waiting up to 3 hours for darshan of Lord Jagannath
Bhubaneswar: Lakhs of devotees have thronged the sacred Srimandir in Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath on the New Year’s eve.
The devotees are standing in a long queue for at least 3 hours to get a darshan of the deity. The temple administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth darshan and maintain law and order.
Entire Srikshetra has been covered with security and CCTV surveillance. Entry to the temple has been allowed through Singhadwara, while others-three are being used for coming out.
The Srimandir administration has planned to keep Mahaprabhu awake on the night of December 31 to allow the devotees to have darshan throughout the night. Devotees can have darshan of Mahaprabhu from the night of December 31 to the night of January 1.
The state government has made strict arrangements for the convenience of devotees, including provision of drinking water and other essential facilities.
