Bhubaneswar: The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has shared latest information regarding the rain and flood-like situation of Odisha.
The SRC said that the Deep Depression over north interior Odisha and adjoining areas of south Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh moved westwards with a speed of 15 kmph during past 6 hours, and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 29th July 2026, over central parts of Chhattisgarh & adjoining north interior Odisha, near latitude 21.9°N and longitude 83.3°E, close to westnorthwest of Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), about 60 km southeast of Champa (Chhattisgarh), 80 km northwest of Sambalpur (Odisha), 120 km east of Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and 180 km east-northeast of Raipur (Chhattisgarh). It is very likely to continue to move nearly westwards across Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.
The Monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Sri Ganganagar, Bhiwani, Gwalior, Sidhi, centre of Deep Depression over central parts of Chhattisgarh & adjoining north interior Odisha, Puri, thence southeastwards towards Central parts of Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.
IMPACT:
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput.
- Heavy Rainfall Very Likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baragada, Subarnapur, Boudh, Balangir, Kandhamala, Rayagada, Malkangiri.

- Average rainfall of the state recorded on 29th July 2026 at 8.30 A.M for the last 24 hours is 58.9 mm.
- Highest Rainfall recorded in last 24 hrs: 315.0 mm in Bijepur Block of Baragada District.
- 1 Block has recorded rainfall more than 300 mm, 9 Blocks have recorded rainfall more than 200 mm and 46 Blocks & 2 Stations of 1 ULB have recorded rainfall from 100 mm to 200 mm.
- The cumulative rainfall of the State from 01.07.2026 to 29.07.2026 remained 623.7 mm against the Normal Average of 316.5 mm registering a Surplus of 97.1%.

Deployment of Senior Officers: Three senior officers having experience have been deployed to Baleshwar, Bhadrak and Jajpur to supervise Flood Management.

Actions Taken:
- Districts under Orange and Yellow warning are advised to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
- Cattle feed has been supplied to Jajpur and Bhadrak upon receiving Indents from the concerned districts.
- People are advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning.
- District Administration is advised to take proper steps on localized flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas.
- Districts to remain alert on situations like minor damage to kutcha roads, possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure, landslides and damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
- State emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) is monitoring the situation 24X7 in coordination with all DEOCs.
