Cyber Crime Unit of CB blocked 121 fake hotel websites to Protect Devotees from Fraud, check details

Bhubaneswar: The CID Crime Branch’s Cyber Crime Unit has taken major steps to protect devotees from cyber fraud during Rath Yatra in Odisha.

Between June 1 and July 18, the unit blocked 121 fake hotel websites and 33 fake hotel web pages. It also removed 19 misleading contents that were being circulated in the name of Rath Yatra.

In addition, 893 mobile numbers and 793 IMEI numbers used for customer care fraud, e-commerce fraud and hotel booking scams have been blocked.

Cyber criminals were duping devotees by creating fake websites in the name of hotel bookings, travel and other services. Keeping a close watch on the digital space, the Cyber Crime Unit has taken immediate action against the fraudsters.

The Crime Branch has advised devotees to book hotels and travel only through official websites and verified apps.

Avoid clicking on unknown links received via SMS, WhatsApp or social media

Not share OTPs, UPI PINs, or bank/card details with anyone
