Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has launched a crackdown against ‘khatti’ or hanging out in public places in Bhubaneswar.
The police have also started a drive against the consumption of alcohol in public places in Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, keeping in view the upcoming urban polls the restrictions were imposed by the police.
Temporary ‘khattis’ in 12 places were stopped by the police on Saturday in Bhubaneswar.
Commisisonerate Police has also started a special drive against drinking alcohol in public places, near eateries, restaurants and outside liquor shops.
It is noteworthy that in the past 48 hours around 200 people were fined for drinking alcohol in public places.
The Police appealed people not to congregate unnecessarily till the model code of conduct is in force.
