Cabinet Committee approves two railway projects for Odisha, CM Majhi thanks PM and Railway Minister
The Cabinet Committee approved four projects of Ministry of Railways with total cost of Rs 18,658 crore (approx.), said the Railway Minister adding that these four projects covering 15 Districts in 3 States i.e., Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 1247 Kms.
Bhubaneswar: The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) which met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved a total of four railway projects including two for Odisha, informed Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Cabinet Committee approved four projects of Ministry of Railways with total cost of Rs 18,658 crore (approx.), said the Railway Minister adding that these four projects covering 15 Districts in 3 States i.e., Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 1247 Kms. These projects include:
- Sambalpur – Jarapda 3rd and 4th Line
- Jharsuguda – Sason 3rd and 4th Line
- Kharsia – Naya Raipur – Parmalkasa 5th and 6th Line
- Gondia – Balharshah doubling
Sambalpur–Jarapda 3rd and 4th Line (277 Track Kilometer):
- The Cabinet approves the third and fourth lines between Jarapada (Talcher–Angul area) and Sambalpur at a cost of ₹3,917 crore. This 277 Km project increase economic activities in Talcher Sambalpur area. It will further enable running of more passenger and express trains in the region and increase the GDP of Odisha.
Jharsuguda–Sason 3rd and 4th Line (87 Track Kilometer):
- The Cabinet approves the third and fourth lines between Sambalpur (Sason) and Jharsuguda at a cost of ₹1,187 crore. This Freight corridor will enable: Movement of passengers and cargo in an integrated way. Faster movement of trains on Howrah Mumbai route Improve economic activities in Odisha and bring logistics efficiency.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi thanked the PM and Railway Minister for approving two railway projects for Odisha.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has been focusing on the development of Odisha and the way the Central Government is regularly sanctioning important development projects for Odisha is proof of this. He also opined that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the State will definitely develop as a growth engine of the country.
“These multi-track projects will bring great mobility in the railway transport sector in Sambalpur, Angul and Jharsuguda districts. These projects will simplify railway management and reduce congestion. These projects will be implemented for multi-modal connectivity as per the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP),” the CM added.
