Balangir: In a suspected case of child sacrifice, badly mutilated body of a newborn baby was found near Bahidarpada railway track in Titlagarh area yesterday.
While the identification of the baby is yet to be ascertained, a number of items used in the child sacrifice were found by the side of the body.
The incident came to fore last evening after some commuters spotted the body of the deceased lying wrapped in a blanket near the track and informed police.
Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel immediately rushed to the spot and seized the body for autopsy after conducting preliminary investigation.
“Multiple injury marks were found all over the body of the deceased, which had also started decaying. Cause of the death could be ascertained only after autopsy report is received,” said an official.
