BMC modifies restrictions for weddings, funerals in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has raised its restrictions to 250 persons for marriage/death rituals/thread ceremony. A fresh order has been issued by the civic body on Saturday relating to gatherings and number of guests at such events.

Earlier in October, with a view to protect the health of the public and preventing spread of COVID-19 during the ensuing winter season it was decided that the total number of persons allowed in functions was 50 persons within Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation limit.

The civic body withdrew the previous order issued on October 4 that capped the number of guests in functions related to marriage, death ritual, thread ceremony limit to 50 in view the improvement in COVID situation.

It is pertinent to mention that Khordha has reported 182 Covid cases among a total of 374 positives in Odisha.
