Bhubaneswar:  The appointment of the new Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) has apparently not gone down well with the state BJP, which has alleged that former DGP KB Singh was removed due to the BJD’ political motive.

According to BJP Spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik removed Singh from the post of the top cop of the state much ahead of the completion of his tenure keeping the urban elections in the state in mind.

Naveen has changed four DGPs during his 17-years’ tenure as per his own wish, Sharma added.

Singh, who had taken charge of the DGP post on November 8, 2015 is slated to superannuate on May, 2019.

The 1985 batch IPS officer will now take over as the Chairman and managing director (CMD) of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC).

The stat government appointed Director General of the State Vigilance Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma as the new DGP of Odisha yesterday. He assumed office this morning.
