BJP Leader Arrested For Attack Bid On Odisha PCC President Niranjan Patnaik, 4 Accused Identified

Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Sanjay Mohanty has been arrested by Keonjhar police for his alleged involvement in the attack bid on Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik.

Mohanty, who was detained for interrogation following the attempt to attack Niranjan yesterday, was arrested by the cops today, informed Keonjhar SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra adding that four other persons also have been identified as accused and they will be arrested soon.

The OPCC President claimed that Sanjay is the leader of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

It is to be recalled here that a group of youths came in a Bolero vehicle and waylaid Niranjan’s vehicle near Kashipur of Keonjhar district yesterday night. They also tried to attack his vehicle. However, when the Personal Security Officers (PSOs) of Niranjan foiled their bid, they attacked one of the PSOs and threatened to kill him.

A case, under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, was filed at the Keonjar Town Police station soon after the occurrences of the incident.

Meanwhile, members of the Bhubaneswar District Congress Committee met Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Das and submitted a memorandum addressing the Odisha DGP Abhay. In the memorandum they have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused persons or else they would hit the street.
