Bike lifters’ gang busted, 6 arrested, 17 bikes seized in Odisha’s Balasore district
Balasore: A bike lifters’ gang was busted in Balasore district of Odisha today while Balasore Town Thana police arrested 6 bike lifters. Yesterday, Police conducted surprise raid at the Balighat bridge when the gang members were planning for a big dacoity.
As per reports, yesterday a few miscreants were planning for a large scale dacoity under the Balighat bridge. After getting information about it from a solid source Balasore Town Police conducted a surprise raid and nabbed the culprits.
Police caught six bike lifters including three minor boys. Two swords, 2 live bombs as well as six stolen bikes were seized from the possession of the culprits. They were reportedly engaged in bike theft in different places of Balasore and Bhadrak districts. This the bike lifters admitted during the interrogation.
A special team of Police, working under the leadership of Balasore SP seized 17 bikes in total.
In the first phase, five bikes were handed over to the respective owners of these bikes after due verification of documents to prove ownership.
This bike lifters’ gang is involved in many cases of snatching, theft and murder besides bike lifting, Police said.
