Sahu in a letter to Odisha BJP president Basanta Panda said “We do not oppose the joining of Ashok Panigrahy in BJP, but he should not be the candidate for the Bijepur election. The party should pick up a candidate from its own party or else we will not accept.”
After Ashok Panigrahy’s resignation from the ruling BJD, speculations have ripen that he would be the BJP nominee for the assembly bypolls, which would be necessitated, owing to the demise of three-time Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
Panigrahy, a former MLA had also vehemently opposed BJD’s decision to name late Subal’s wife Rita Sahu as the BJD candidate for the election.
