Big relief in sight! Low pressure crosses Odisha and advances towards MP, rain to lessen from today
The low pressure resulting in heavy rain in the Odisha is expected to lessen from today, as the low pressure has advanced towards MP.
Bhubaneswar: The low pressure rain in Odisha that has been a reason to worry has finally made its way out of the state. It has crossed Odisha and is advancing towards Madhya Pradesh via Northern Chhattisgarh.
According to information, the districts lying in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi and Chhattisgarh will continue to receive rainfall. Due to this fresh low pressure, the rain continued for last three days in several parts of Odisha. For today as many as 20 districts have been issued a yellow warning.
The quantity of rainfall in the state is expected to lessen from today predicted the Indian Meteorological Centre’s regional wing here at Bhubaneswar.
Due to these rains, the water level had breached the danger mark of several rivers posing a threat of flood. While many districts were waterlogged, the situation had not resulted in flood said the government.
As many as 16 sluice gates of Hirakud dam were opened to release the rainwater and lower the level of water in the rivers.
The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal that developed into a well-marked low pressure area had thrown normal life out of gear. In some places, people were stranded in the floods while at others it had lesser effect but disrupted day-to-day activities.
