Bhubaneswar sizzles at 35.6 degrees at 8.30 am; humidity at 54%

The Capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius at 8.30 am on Saturday. The humidity at that time was 54 percent.

Bhubaneswar: The Capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius at 8.30 am on Saturday. The humidity at that time was 54 percent.

Earlier, the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for five districts of Odisha as the mercury rises in the state.

The districts including Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh will experience a rise in temperature. On the other hand, districts including Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj have received yellow warnings for the heatwave.

Here are the temperatures recorded across Odisha by 08.30 am today: 

Jharsuguda: 36.6 degrees
Hirakud: 35.8 degrees
Sambalpur: 36.2 degrees
Bhubaneswar: 35.2 degrees
Balasore: 32.4 degrees
Chandbali: 34 degrees
Puri: 34 degrees
Gopalpur: 31.6 degrees
Paradip: 332.8 degrees

Taking serious note of the heat wave warnings of the IMD, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued the following advisories:

  • Steps be taken to circulate the warning message among the public.
  • Heat is tolerable for the general public but slight health concern for vulnerable people (viz: infants, older citizens, and sick people).
  • The public may be advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noontime (around 11 AM-3 PM in these areas).
  • The situation may be closely monitored and action as deemed necessary be taken.
