Bhubaneswar Lingaraj Temple servitor falls down while lifting Mahadeepa atop
An unfortunate incident occurred during the Mahashivratri celebration at the Lingaraj Temple as the servitor who was lifting the Mahadeepa atop the temple reportedly fell down and was injured this evening.
Bhubaneswar: An unfortunate incident occurred during the Mahashivratri celebration at the Lingaraj Temple as the servitor who was lifting the Mahadeepa atop the temple reportedly fell down and was injured this evening.
As per the rituals, the ceremonial procession of the Mahaeepa was held by the servitors following which one of them started to climb atop the temple along with Mahadeepa to raise it atop the shrine.
However, the servitor , who was carrying the Mahadeepa to the pinnacle of the temple, fell down after he climbed around 10-15 feet height of the temple wall.
Without any delay, another servitor replaced him and successfully raised the Mahadeepa atop the temple amid the chants of Har Har Mahadev, Om Namah Shivaya and and Hari Bol by thousands of devotees.
The servitor who fell down is said to be around 50-year-old and is assumed to have sustained critical injuries. Soon, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment, said sources.
Till the filing of this report, it is not known under what circumstances the temple servitor fell from the wall of the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar.
It is to be noted here that as per the decision, the Mahadeepa was slated to be lifted atop the temple at 10 PM. However, it was delayed by around 40 minutes.
