Bhubaneswar Bound Rajdhani Express Catches Fire

Bhubaneswar: Passengers of the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express have a narrow escape after the power car of the train caught fire near Khanatapada in Balasore district on Saturday afternoon. Railway officials said that no one was injured in the mishap.

Fire brigade immediately doused the fire and prevented the fire from spreading to other coaches. “ Smoke emanated from the power car of the train which was heading towards Bhubaneswar. Following the incident the over head electric wire was switched off,” said an official.

The train departed from Khantapada at 2.59pm without the rear generator car. “ A team of officers from Kharagpur division under the South Western Railway inspected the train. The generator car was detached for safety of passengers,” added the official.
