Bhubaneswar: BMC Engineer Jagannath Pattnaik arrested by Odisha Vigilance in DA case

He has also been booked separately for illegal antler possession under Wildlife Act

Bhubaneswar: Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance on Thursday in a DA case.

He will be forwarded today to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case No.16 /2025 has been registered against Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer, BMC, Bhubaneswar.

Based on searches conducted on properties of Pattnaik, Executive Engineer, BMC, Bhubaneswar, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets comprising 3 multi storeyed buildings including one at BBSR and two at Gunpur (in Rayagada district), one farm house, three high value plots at Bhubaneswar, gold 460 gms, deposits over Rs.80 lakhs, 1 four wheeler (Grand Vitara), 1 pair of antler horns, a country made gun etc, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

Further, one more case vide OR case No 3 in  Balipatna Forest Range under Khordha Wild Life Division of year 2025-26 under sec(9)(49)(51)of Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 was instituted against Sri Pattnaik, EE, BMC for illegal possession of antler horns.

Further investigation of the matter is underway.
