Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police on Sunday have arrested a four-member gang, popularly referred to as the “Billi Gang,” for stealing air-conditioner (AC) outdoor compressors from various parts of the capital city of Odisha.

According to police sources, the gang used a systematic strategy for their thefts. During the daytime, the accused would roam around residential and institutional areas to identify houses and buildings with AC units installed. At night, after assessing the situation, they would steal the outdoor compressors and flee the spot.

Khandagiri Police arrested all four accused and seized eight stolen AC compressors along with a vehicle used in the crimes. The gang was reportedly active in areas such as Shreepur, Saubhagya Nagar, and the OUAT campus.
