“Why should #OERC demand a power tariff hike when Govt Offices, Municipalities & NACs in #Odisha owe Rs 413 Cr to Exchequer? Buck stops here,” asked the saffron party leader on his Twitter page.
The OERC decided to go for another upward revision in power tariffs while hearing a petition to hike electricity charges on August 16.The development had come after some electricity supplying companies, including bulk power supplier GRIDCO, appealed to the OERC to raise energy charges.
The possible power tariff hike has been vehemently protested by people from all walks of life as the OERC had hiked electricity tariffs by an average of 1.44% only on March 23 this year.
