Bhadrak: Audience throw chairs and stop opera mid-way after use of derogatory words against Lord Jagannath
Bhadrak: The audiences threw chairs and stopped the opera in Annapala of Bhadrak district on Tuesday night for the use of derogatory and disrespectful words towards Lord Jagannath.
As the sentiment of the audiences was hurt, they hurled chairs on the stage to stopped the opera titled “Swami pain pache narka ku jibi” (I will even go to hell for my husband) by Swarna Mandir opera committee. They agitating crowd said,” The opera has certain scenes and words that are disrespectful towards Hindu Dharma.” The audience agitation in the opera in Bhadrak has become the talk of the town now.
Based on Love-jihad, the opera has certain derogatory dialogues against Hindus and Lord Jagannath, spoken by an artist playing a Muslim character, which did not go well with the audiences. As a result they created a ruckus and stopped the opera.
Later on, the organisers and artists coaxed the agitating crowd and continued the opera after removing certain scenes from it.
