Balasore: In a shocking incident a two months old toddler sustained critical burn injuries in Balasore district of Odisha, after his mother accidentally dropped him into a fire pit. The incident took place in Chalanti village under Jaleswar police station limits of the district.

According to sources, Taran Hembrom’s family had lit a fire in the courtyard to get some relief from the biting cold. While sitting near the fire pit, the toddler’s mother was holding the child in her lap when, due to momentary negligence, the baby slipped from her arms and fell into the burning fire pit.

As the family members saw this they immediately reacted and rescued the toddler from the fire and rushed him to Jaleswar Hospital for primary treatment. As the child’s condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to the Balasore District Headquarter Hospital for advanced medical care.

After the health check-up, the doctors have confirmed that most part of the toddler’s body has suffered burn injuries. The child remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.

This incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, highlighting the dangers of open fires during the winter season.
