Balasore: Home guard loses both of his legs in a train mishap

Balasore: In a rather shocking incident at Soro, a home guard lost both of his legs in a train accident on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Natabar Nayak who is a resident of Tundapada village.

As per the reports, Nayak was on his way to join duty at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s public meet programme at Balasore today. Since the train was running late he got down at Nilagiri station. At this unfortunate moment, a speeding Duranto Express hit him while he was crossing the railway tracks and Nayak lost both his legs in the accident.

The home guard was in a serious condition and he has been admitted at Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his concern on Nayak’s condition. Patnaik has announced financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh and free medical treatment for the injured home guard.
