Baby elephant found dead at Rengali Reservoir in Deogarh district

The carcass of the baby elephant, which is assumed to be around 1-2 year old, was found near the Kantimal village under the Riamala forest range.

Deogarh: In an unfortunate incident, a baby elephant was found dead at the Rengali Reservoir of Odisha’s Deogarh district today. The carcass of the baby elephant, which is assumed to be around 1-2 year old, was found near the Kantimal village under the Riamala forest range.

While it is yet to be known under what circumstances the carcass of the pachyderm was found in the water body, it is suspected that the animal died after accidentally falling into to it when it had come to drink water.

Some locals spotted the carcass of the elephant and informed the forest officials about it, said sources adding that efforts are on to recovered the body from the Rengali Reservoir.

The death of the baby elephant has saddened the animal lovers.
