Bhubaneswar: Avoid eating chicken for a few days now, said the Director of Health Services Odisha Bijay Kumar Mohapatra on Monday. In a presser earlier today, the Director of Health Services Odisha Bijay Kumar Mohapatra spoke about the detection of bird flu in Odisha.
An advisory has been issued to the various districts in Odisha relating to bird flu. He has further said that if a person tests positive for bird flu they will suffer from fever. which is one of the first symptoms of the disease. A district-wise team shall be formed for a survey.
He further warned that Pipili is now a hot bed of bird flu. A rapid response team has gone to Pipili, he said. A containment zone has been declared in the areas where the flu has been detected.
The Director further warned that incase a chicken is detected with bird flue it should be culled immediately and buried. The disease is being closely monitored and the public health unit is collecting information on a daily basis. All the areas near Puri are being closely monitored. He further issued an alert and said that people should avoid coming in contact with bird flu infected chicken.
