Auto driver returns bag with jewelry worth Rs 2 lakh in Bhubaneswar

Bhuabaneswar: An Auto rickshaw driver from Bhubaneswar recently earned applause from all for his noble work. He returned the vanity bag of a woman that had jewelry worth more than Rs 2 lakh.

As per reports, on April 22 an OSAP jawan named Saroj Sahu and his wife Jyotsnarani boarded the Auto rickshaw of Basanta at about 7 pm in the evening at Rasulgarh chowk of Bhubaneswar. They wanted to go Kalpana square. However, some auto drivers of Rasulgarh Auto stand objected and the couple had to get down from the Auto.

However, somehow the lady left her vanity bag in the Auto. The bag contained a gold chain, Mangalsutra, gold bangles, ear wearing and some other jewelry worth more than Rs 2 lakh.

Basanta wanted to return the vanity bag to its rightful owner. However, it was a difficult task to find out the real owner of the bag. Accordingly, he immediately went to Badagada Police station and handed over the bag to the IIC Biswaranjan Nayak.

The Police IIC found a Voter ID card from the bag from where he got the address of Jyotsnarani. He contacted family of Jyotsnarani with the help of Bari Police and informed her about recovery of the missing vanity bag and the jewelries.

On Tuesday Jyotsnarani and her husband visited Badagad Police station in Bhubaneswar where the IIC returned the vanity bag along with the jewelries to Jyotsnarani in presence of the Auto driver Basant.
