Attack on man and cops over over land dispute in Bharatpur: Six arrested
Additional IIC Bharatpur PS Madhabananda Bastia, ASI Sanghamitra Kar and driver Kartika Behera were injured following the attack by a group of people in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar.
Bhubaneswar: A man along with five of his family members and supporters was arrested today on charges of attacking his brother over land dispute and police team which went to investigate the matter in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar.
Police arrested the five persons in the Bharatpur ps case no-161 dated 31.03.2025 u/s-126(2) /118(2) /109 /296/351(2)/3(5) BNS and identified them as Rashmita Nayak (35), Arati Moharana (46), Surjay Moharana (51), Manoj Moharana (30), Akshaya Moharana (19) and Rakesh Kumar Nayak (30).
Police also seized one Iron angel, two broken bricks and four bamboo stick.
According to police, one Bhaskar Moharana is staying at Banadurga Sahi of Bharatpur and he is having two sons namely Surya Moharana (elder) and Ashok Moharana (younger). However, there was dispute between both the brothers relating to ownership of the parental property at Bharatpur.
Three days back due to the dispute between them two cases were registered at Bharatur PS on both sides report (Bharatpur ps case no-155 dated 26.03.2025 u/s 26(2)/115(2)/296/74/303(2)/351(2)/3(5) of BNS and Bharatpur ps case no-156 dated 26.03.2025 u/s 126(2)/115(2)/74/303(2)/351(2)/324(2)/3(5) of BNS.
In the intervening night of March 30/31 at about 1 AM, Surya Moharana with his family came to the house of Bhasker and demanded to stay which led to severe quarrel between Surya and Ashok. Out of anger Surya attacked Ashok and his wife.
Later, after getting call from 112, the Bharatpur P.S staff with PCR attended the issue and tried to pick up Surya and his supporters. However, the local people along with Surya opposed police party, attacked the cops, pelted stones at them and damaged the police vehicle OD-05-AM-5608.

In this connection, police registered two cases Bharatpur ps case no-161 dated 31.03.2025 u/s-126(2)/118(2)/109/296/351(2)/3(5)BNS and Bharatpur ps case no-162 dated 31.03.2025 , U/s121/ 121A/126(2) /296/115(2)/ 109/132/324(2)/351(2) /190/3(5)BNS/3PDPP Act and started an investigation into the matter and arrested the accused persons.
Further investigation is going on in all the four aforementioned Cases.
