Assistant Executive Engineer Srikanta Kumar Mahunta dismissed from services in bribery case

Assistant Executive Engineer Srikanta Kumar Mahunta was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 20,000 from a Contactor to do measurement and check measurement of the construction-roadwork under PMGSY.

Bhadrak: Srikanta Kumar Mahunta, the former Assistant Engineer of rural works sub-division in Pattamundai, who is currently posted as Assistant Executive Engineer of rural works sub-division, Basudevpur, has been dismissed from the government service in a bribery case.

Mahunta was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance vide Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.30 dated 30.05.2011 U/s U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and taking bribe of Rs 20,000 from a Contactor to do measurement and check measurement of the construction-roadwork under PMGSY.

He has been dismissed from the public service as per provision of OCS(CCA) Rules,1962 with immediate effect from today i.e may 21, by the competent authority following his conviction by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack in bribery case.

Mahunta was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack on September 24, 2024 and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of four years and fine.

Following conviction of Srikanta Kumar Mahunta, Odisha Vigilance had communicated in this regard to the competent authority to take appropriate action against him.
