Mayurbhanj: Another elephant calf was found dead today in Similipal of Odisha. The elephant carcass was found at the Jenabil Forest Range area in the district. Age of the baby elephant is said to be one year.
As per reports, the elephant calf was found dead in Jenabil Forest Range area in Similipal, under Mayurbhanj district of Odisha on Monday. It was suspected that the calf might have died due to wound site infection.
The dead baby elephant is said to be 1 year old, informed the Regional Chief Conservator of Forests, Similipal Tiger Reserve.
The body of the baby elephant has been autopsied. The RCCF said that the cause of death will be clear when the autopsy report comes.
It is to be noted that earlier in June this year a 25-year-old elephant which had sneaked into the Hatadihi block of Keonjhar district from Hadgarh sanctuary was found dead at a mango orchard.
