AI to control traffic in Puri during Rath Yatra 2024: Traffic ADG Dayal Gangwar

Puri: AI will be used for traffic control. CCTV will be connected with AI. This was informed by Traffic ADG Dayal Gangwar. A large number of drones will be flown to monitor the crowd. The drone will feed the control room with information. Passengers will get assistance through WhatsApp.

The preparation for the Rath Yatra has reached the final stage. Traffic restrictions will be imposed from the night of July 6. This year, state-of-the-art CCTV cameras with artificial intelligence based or AI have been arranged for better management of the traffic system. A large number of drones will be flown to monitor the crowd.

He also said that this time for the first time the number of vehicles entering the ride will be counted. Buses, cars, bikes and autos will be counted. Special traffic arrangement will be maintained on Puri-Brahmgiri, Puri-Bhubaneswar and Puri-Konark roads along with inbound and outbound traffic. Black spots have been identified at different places. Drone assistance will be taken at identified black spots. This time, for the first time Odisha Police has taken the help of advanced technology for traffic management, Traffic ADG said.

A WhatsApp chat group has also been created. It has a QR scanner. A person can easily know about the traffic system through this QR scanner code. In total, 50 platoon forces and 450 officers have been deployed for traffic management. Three lane traffic has been arranged at Maltipatpur on the Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway.

Even during the Rath Yatra, 100-150 tourist buses, 400-500 regular buses and 190 buses from different blocks of the state will come. 36-40 critical sites have been identified within the city and at different places. Special parking spaces have been provided for parking of buses and two-wheelers plying Puri-Brahmgiri, Puri-Bhubaneswar and Puri-Konark. Traffic ADG has informed that the traffic system will continue from Ratha Yatra to Sunabesha.

On the other hand, the police have done a mock drill for Rathtanar. ADG himself reviewed this mock drill. Along with this, the security system has also been studied. Demonstration was held like Rath Yatra. Three police jeeps were taken as three Raths and a mock drill was conducted inside the cordon. How to pull chariots in crowd, how to maintain indoor and outdoor cordons and how to control chariots were practiced and police were trained.
