Nuapada: In yet another case of newborn abandonment in the state, locals rescued a two to three days old baby girl in Daldali village under Nuapada tehsil in the district on Thursday.
The incident came to light after a group of men who were working in a farmland located in the vicinity of the village heard the bawling of the baby on the banks of a pond this morning. They immediately reached the spot and rescued her.
ASHA workers and district child line officials got the baby admitted to hospital for medical check-up later in the morning after reaching the village.
Police have registered a case in the incident and are trying to trace the parents of the baby.
