60 Platoons of police secure final day of Sital Sasthi jatra in Sambalpur

Today is the culmination of Sambalpur’s famous Sital Sasthi jatra. The celebrations reached a peak last evening as the divine couple Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati graced devotees during Shaha Nagar Parikrama. As the evening progressed, thousands of believers thronged to witness the jugala Darshan at famous temples like Shiteleswar Baba in Badabazar, Gupteswar Baba in Thakurpada, Bam Barad Balunkeshwar in Nandapada, Jageshwar Baba in Modi Pada, and Loknath Baba in Jharuapada.

The colorful procession was flanked by many cultural troupes that added yet another level of festivity to the environment. The Nagar Parikrama, after an interim break, continued this morning and is set to go on until evening hours, attracting lakhs of pilgrims. For ensuring smooth crowd control and upholding law and order, a large police contingent of approximately 60 platoons has been stationed throughout the city.

As dawn broke, pilgrims gathered at many intersections, praying earnestly to the divine pair, looking forward to the Yugala Darshan. The atmosphere is charged with devotion and exhilaration as the festival reaches its culmination, imprinting itself upon the hearts of everyone who took part.
