5 school students fall sick after taking Measles-Rubella Vaccine In Odisha

Puri: Five school children were taken ill post taking the Measles and Rubella Vaccines at Biraharekrushnapur under Sadar Block of the district here on Monday. They have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

According to reports, Pratima Tripathy, Lipika Parida, Sarmista Priyadarshini, Sibhika Midang and Amarnath Panda of St.Xavier School fell sick after taking the Measles-Rubella Vaccine. However, the school authorities rushed them to the hospital after they vomited and complained giddiness.

Their condition is said to be stable, said sources.

Tension prevailed on the premises of the hospital as parents of the students along with the locals created ruckus over the incident.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had flagged of the statewide vaccination drive at Bhubaneswar today.

Around 1.13 crore children between the ages of nine months and 15 years will be administered with the Measles-Rubella vaccine. The first phase of the vaccination drive will continue till March 26, 2018.
