Cuttack: At least five houses belonging to three families were reduced to ashes and property worth lakhs were lost after a blaze broke out in Padmanabhapur village under Badamba police limits in the district last night.
Sparks erupted in one Sulochana Panda’s house in the wee hours while her family members were asleep. Later the fire spread to neighbouring houses and took shape of a massive blaze. After Sulochana’s family came to know about the mishap they immediately launched firefighting efforts and later called up Badamba Fire Brigade office.
The flames were contained after a number of fire tenders from Badamba reached the spot later in the night and swung into action.
While no casualty has been reported in the mishap, assets worth lakhs including furniture, cash, electronics goods along with several valuable documents have been lost to the fire.
