Soro: Four persons including the prime accused, who thrashed a mentally challenged girl mercilessly in Sajanpur village of Soro block in Balasore district, have been arrested by the police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Bipin Sahoo, the prime accused in the incident, Malati Sahoo, Bharati Sahoo and Bharat Sahoo. Before their arrest, they were detained by the police for interrogation ever since the incident came to fore as the video went viral.
Kartika Lenka’s daughter Rachana Lenka, a mentally challenged girl was tied to a tree and beaten severely at the village four days ago. The accused had tied the girl’s hands and legs and dragged her to a distance for allegedly taking some firewood.
The matter had come to fore after the video of the incident went viral day before yesterday. Later, the accused offered cash to the parents of the girl so as to compromise the matter.
However, her parents lodged an FIR against four persons and demanded stringent action against the culprits. Following which, the SDPO Balasore (Sadar) had formed two special teams to probe the matter.
