3 killed, 12 injured in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Sundergarh/Nayagarh: At least 3 persons were killed and 12 others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps which struck Sundergarh and Nayagarh districts in the state since last night.

In the first incident, three pedestrians were mowed down by a speeding SUV in Telanadihi village near Lephripada area late in the night. The victims, identified as residents of Kurei village were on a visit to Telanadihi to take part in an engagement ceremony when the mishap took place. The SUV’s driver lost control over the wheels and ran over the trio while they were waiting under a tree.

Two others who sustained critical injury after being hit by the SUV during the accident were rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment by locals.

Another tragic mishap took place this morning in Nayagarh district in which a bus carrying tourists from Balagir’s Loisingha to Puri rammed into a roadside shop and after driver lost control on wheels at Takara village under Dasapalla block. Around ten out of 72 tourists boarding the bus sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to Daspalla Hospital immediately.

Police have reached the spot and seized the badly mangled bus to start investigation.
