1,55,068 electric vehicles registered in Odisha, subsidy of Rs 232 crore distributed: Transport Minister

As many as 1,55,068 electric vehicles (EV) were registered in Odisha in the last five years and a total subsidy of Rs 232 crore have been distributed to the owners, informed  Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.

Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,55,068 electric vehicles (EV) were registered in Odisha in the last five years and a total subsidy of Rs 232 crore have been distributed to the owners, informed  Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.

While replying to   a question of Baramba MLA Bijaya Kumar Dalabehera during the question hour of Odisha Legislative Assembly budget session yesterday, the Transport Minister informed that a total of 1,55,068 electric vehicles were registered in the state from 2021 to 6 March, 2025 and the State government has distributed a total subsidy amount of Rs 232.45 crore to 1,22,578 beneficiaries during this period of time.

2021:

  • Two-wheelers: 4,944
  • Three-wheelers: 623
  • Four-wheelers: 56
  • Buses: 3

2022:

  • Two-wheelers: 25,726
  • Three-wheelers: 2,252
  • Four-wheelers: 407
  • Buses: 62

  • Two-wheelers: 38,347
  • Three-wheelers: 4,771
  • Four-wheelers: 1,344
  • Buses: 83

2024:

  • Two-wheelers: 56,303
  • Three-wheelers: 6,218
  • Four-wheelers: 3,207
  • Buses: 249

2025 (up to March 6):

  • Two-wheelers: 8,581
  • Three-wheelers: 965
  • Four-wheeler: 854
  • Bus: 73

This data clearly shows that the interest of people in electric vehicles in Odisha has increased rapidly. The state government’s incentives and subsidy schemes are considered to be the main reasons of this.
