10-year-old boy dies after getting swept away in drain in Berhampur

Berhampur: A 10-year-old boy dies after getting swept away in a drain in Berhampur of Odisha. The incident has come to the fore from the 14-number line of Laxminrusingh Sahi of the town.

According to sources, the minor boy got swept away in a drain that was full due to heavy rainfall after falling into it while riding a bicycle. On receiving information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation.

After searching for nearly four hours, the minor boy was rescued in critical condition. He was immediately rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Further detailed reports related to the incident are awaited.

Earlier in a similar instance, a minor boy died after being swept away in a drain in Bhubaneswar. He was reportedly playing near the drain at Masjid Colony in the Unit III area of the State Capital City while it was raining heavily at around 2 PM on June 18. He reportedly saw a balloon floating on the water. But unfortunately, he was swept away in the drain water.
