1 injured in exchange of fire between Police and cattle smugglers in Keonjhar district

Keonjhar: One person among the cattle smugglers was critically injured after exchange of fire between them and police in Keonjhar district. The incident has come to the fore from Pithagola under Pandapada police limit of the district.

According to sources, the cattle traffickers were on their way for smuggling cows in three pickup van when the police got to know about it. Taking action on the tip, the cops rushed to the spot and followed the pickup vans.

On releasing that police were following them, the traffickers initiated open firing. With this exchange of fire occurred between both. During the exchange of fire, one of the trafficker got injured on his legs.

The cops later seized the vehicles and rescued the cattle. They also rushed the injured to the nearby hospital, while two of the accused fled from the spot and are absconding.

The cops have initiated probe into the matter. Further detailed reports related to the incident are awaited.
