Zoos in Uttar Pradesh have been temporarily shut down by the authorities as a tigress allegedly died due to Bird flu.
Etawah: In a major development, the zoos in Uttar Pradesh have been temporarily shut down by the authorities as a tigress allegedly died due to Bird flu or avian influenza.
According to reports, Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Zoo has been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure after tigress ‘Shakti’ died of bird flu at Gorakhpur’s Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan Zoological Park
Further reports said that, Etawah Lion Safari Park temporarily closed as a precautionary measure after tigress ‘Shakti’ died of Avian influenza at Gorakhpur’s Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan Zoological Park
Safari Park Director Anil Kumar Patel told ANI, “After a tigress at Gorakhpur zoo died of Avian influenza, all zoos and safaris in the state have been temporarily closed for a week till 20th May.”
Anil Kumar Patel further told ANI, “Health monitoring of zookeepers is being done. We are taking all precautions. There are no symptoms of bird flu in any animal in our park.”
