Youth arrested in Navi Mumbai for illegally selling Covishield doses

Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a youth for allegedly black-marketing the Covishield vaccine doses. The arrested accused has been identified as Kishore Khet Kumar, a resident of a resident of Kamothe.

Based on a reliable information that he was selling each dose of Covishield for Rs 4000, the Crime Branch team informed Food and Drug Administration officials and planned a trap to get their hands on him. They approached Kishore through  a fake customer who asked for the delivery of the vaccine under Rajiv Gandhi flyover in Sector 8, Nerul.

Reports said that Kishore took Rs 60,000 for 15 doses. “At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of two vials and 15 syringes. While one vial had 10 doses, the other contained five doses. Both the vials have been seized,” said police inspector from Crime Branch.

A case has been registered at Nerul Police on the complaint of Dr. Ajay Mahule, a drug inspector under section 420, and section 18 (C), 27 and 28 of the Drug and Cosmetic Act 1940, and sections 3, 7 and 7(1) of Essential Commodity act.

The police also seized the Covishield vaccines and other items from his possession. The cops have initiated a further probe into matter.
