Won’t contest 2019 elections: Sushma Swaraj

Indore: In what could be considered as a big surprise in Indian politics, senior most BJP leader and current External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj declared that she has decided not to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the newsmen today, in Madhya Pradesh, where she is campaigning for elections to be held later this month. Sushma said, “It is the party which decides, but I have made up my mind not to contest next elections.”

Speaking about the reason behind her decision, Swaraj clarified that she will not be in the fray for the next general election due to health issue and she has conveyed her decision to the saffron party.

The 66-year-old veteran politician is currently the sitting MP from Vidisha constituency which she retained in the 2014 polls with a huge margin of over 4 lakh votes.
