Woman alleges Sexual assault by hospital staff in ICU at Alwar hospital
A 32-year-old woman allegedly Sexually assaulted by a nursing staff inside ESIC Medical College’s ICU in Alwar.
Alwar: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a nursing staff member inside the surgical ICU of ESIC medical college earlier this week, leading to a police investigation and an internal inquiry by hospital authorities.
The accused, identified as Subash Ghithala (30) has been restricted from entering the hospital premises. The hospital authorities has reportedly issued notices to the on-duty doctor and staff, requesting their written statements. Additionally, a committee has been formed to conduct an internal investigation, with its report expected by Saturday evening.
According to the police report, the woman was admitted to the hospital on June 2 for a tubectomy and was moved to the ICU after the procedure on June 4. Her husband stated that around 11pm that night, he was asked to wait outside by a security guard.
Later, between 1:30am and 2:30am, he was informed by the guard and a male staffer that his wife was experiencing side effects from an injection and needed assistance. After helping her lie down again, he was asked to leave the room. Where the woman was allegedly assaulted in ICU.
On June 5, when the woman regained consciousness, she informed her husband that the male staff member had drawn the curtains and sexually assaulted her during the night. The husband immediately filed a complaint, and a FIR was registered by the police.
The following day, the woman told her attending doctor, Dr. Deepika, who then confronted the accused in the presence of the witnesses. According to the hospital, Ghitala confessed everything during the confrontation. SHO Ajit Badsara confirmed that the accused has been charged for molestation and rape.
